Sage Ditch Sage 100

Steve Attwell, General Manager - Lower Mid Market Channel of Sage announced today the decision not to release Sage 100 in its current guise and that development has stopped.

This is not a decision they have taken lightly, however they feel it is the right decision if they are to meet their long term goals. These goals include satisfying the changing customer trends and demands such as SaaS and on demand delivery.

Henry Catherwood of Bluestone Computing commented; ” Our teams have worked hard on the Sage 100 product over the last few months as part of the developer’s beta program. We really felt it was going well, so for many reasons, we are disappointed with this news.”

“We know some of clients will also be frustrated, waiting as they have for greater load capacity with the same Sage 50 look, feel and functionality.”

“Many of our clients have already selected one or more of our Workplace Suite modules that include; Stock Control, Sales and CRM to deliver the high demand, multi-user functions they need. This then has left Sage 50 to handle just the core Financials; the bank, ledgers, reports and analysis work.”

Sage firmly believe that the opportunity still exists within the market for a premium offering for expanding and growing business that have larger customer and supplier bases, larger transaction volumes and an expanding user base. Some growing Sage 50 Accounts customers need an accounting solution that has the increased capability of growing with their business, without having to move to the additional complexities of the Sage 200 Suite.

We are sure Sage will have some positive news over the coming months.

A short story of how Henry Catherwood created the UK Software Club Part 12

This week has again brought us closer to taking the UK Software Club site live. (http://www.uksoftwareclub.co.uk)..more on that below including a video, but first Bluestone blog news

Bluestone Computing

Our customers have been keeping us very busy again, which is wonderful and thank you to you all. Some projects we were rather hoping would finalise in January haven't yet but then other seemingly dormant projects, have popped up.

We are receiving a large increase in enquiries from both existing and new customers and these encompass our full range of our products and services. This indicates to me that many of you have made or are making exciting plans for 2010.

Hardware
HP servers continue to be a favorite, working wonderfully with the newest version of MS Server 2008 as well as earlier versions and offering great value too.

Software
Windows 7 is starting to prove it's self to be a better product than XP and I am using it more and more.

Support
The Vat increase has not proved to much of a worry to you all and we have had no major wide spread issues so far this month (long may it continue).

Enough of Bluestone what about the UK Software Club

UK Software Club

We have been getting a little spam from the sites product "more details" feature so we must look at stopping this spam or turn the a feature off. (we will still a contact me feature)

We have also decided that we will add supporting content about the various products over time rather than waiting for everything to be perfect. This is opposed to removing the products from the site or not taking the site live.

I also think that when we will go live it should a quiet launch and then we can monitor the sites performance to ensure our members are delighted.

If you have any questions please do add a comment I can hopefully answer these and add more detail around this in future blogs.

Until next time.

A short story of how Henry Catherwood created the UK Software Club Part 11

Happy New Year to you all, it's January 2010, it's very cold and we've had lots of snow.

We have had some time to work on the UK Software Club over the last couple of weeks and I am pleased the way we are moving forward.

We have amended our simple online shop to make purchasing easier and a created a selection of online documents to hopefully assist potential club members to decide that to join the club could bring huge benefits to their business.

We also want members to spread the word to friend, family and colleagues so everything has to be perfect, not just the price.

Until next time

Regards

Henry

A short story of how Henry Catherwood created the UK Software Club Part 10

This week we look at Graduate Internships as a way of getting the UK Software club back on track.

Normal business is great but leaving no time to this important project, plus I have purchased advertising in the Sage additions book for this club so I simply have to get it live.

I have worked out that if the intern has generated 600 members we can offer them a time position.

We will let you know the hoops we have to fly through. Business link are supposed to know everything about it we are told but our local office has no knowledge and has gone off to research it for us, 3 days ago, no news yet!

Creating an Online Shop, Introducing H Christmas, Week 9

About H Christmas

H Christmas is the name I have given to what the Catherwood Family have done for about 10 years now at Christmas

It makes for a much better, happier Christmas I promise.

My brothers, sister and I, as well as our partners and my parents all take it in turn to select a charity each year.

We tell our family why we have selected it and encourage them to give as much as possible.

It is also understood that we do not give each other presents. With the remaining money saved, we can choose to purchase something for ourselves, normally waiting for the sales.

I support the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity. When I was three they saved my life. The local hospitals having tried their very best had given up and written me off, suggesting that I had a couple more days at the most.

Last year it was my turn to choose the family charity and as expected I chose Great Ormond Street and we managed to raise a little under a £1000.

This year it is not my turn to choose but I have recently received information from Great Ormond Street asking again for support. I wondered how I may help.

I decided to share what we do as family. I have recorded a short video and published it on YouTube.

Anyone you loves the idea and wants to thank me for sharing it, I have asked to donate at least £2.

Anyone who has not been able to, or does not wish to find three suitable friends and or family to share this idea with, I have invited to join me with my charity and give £25 or more. The H Christmas idea does not work quite so well but hopefully you will get joy from seeing others that feel the same.

Christmas, I believe, is about giving, regardless of belief (if any). It’s an excuse to stop, take stock and think about others.

Having given, please allow any warmth you might feel to show, and if asked, take a moment to share why you feel so good.

Henry
